We are enjoying our new Voltos !

On Labour Day 2016 Adrienne and I hired a couple of Volto E-bikes from Jolly Bikes Tauranga to see if we would be interested enough to purchase them.

We chose to take the cycle way along the TEL motorway from the Kaituna river to Paengaroa, had brunch and then returned to the Kaituna carpark, a round trip of 22kms. The E-bikes made it easy for Adrienne to keep up with me and we could enjoy the excursion together. We were sold !

Since then we have completed the Thames – Waihi return trail with a pleasant B & B stay in Waihi in the middle.

I personally have chosen this to be my main exercise and have set a goal for 2017 to travel at least 6000kms. To date, 1 March, I am ahead of that goal with 1600kms just turned over on the odometer.

Each week I aim to travel at least 120kms which I do mostly between 9pm and 11pm as the temperature is more pleasant and the traffic greatly reduced. Even if I’m feeling a little tired before I go, that soon passes when I get out in the evening air. Most enjoyable.

I would highly recommend taking up E-biking to anyone who has enjoyed biking before but not quite fit enough now, especially when facing hills or headwinds ! What a great way to commute, easily beating the rush-hour traffic. My best performance to date was 58.3kms in 1hour 52min, that’s averaging 31.4kph and I will be 63 later this year.

We have plans next year to travel south to enjoy some of the premium bike trails like the Otago Railtrail and the Alps 2 Ocean. A whole new world of exercise and enjoyment has been opened up with the purchase of our Volto E-bikes.

A big thank you to Andreas and Sibyl.
